Hi all,

I moved to Boston from Scotland last year, and have been slowing working out what the best places to go to are.

So far have been to Killington, Sunday River, Tremblant, Orford, Sunday River, Sunapee and Wachusett.

One of the biggest problems is working out where to go next, especially when i have been taking the official mountain snow reports with a grain of salt. Stumbled across this site which i find really useful for independent reports.

Anyhow...looking for somewhere to go for tomorrow. (Sat 27th) This short list is Brettonwoods, Waterville or Loon.

Has anyone been to any of these in the last week? Whats the coverage? Any recommendations?

I have been skiing for 27 years, but have a few others with me, so we tend to stick to Single Diamonds and Blues.

Cheers

I haven't been to any of those this year, so my info isn't that current.

The big concern on a Saturday is always crowds. It is my unscientific impression that Loon might be the most crowded, given its proximity to Boston and I-93. I don't know how Waterville's Saturday crowds compare to Loon's.

Most of Bretton Woods' terrain is beginner-to-intermediate. I don't think their glades are open yet.

In that general area, you might also want to check out Wildcat.

Looks like it will be cold tomorrow! (which might thin out the crowds, come to think of it) Have fun wherever you go.

Waterville will probably still be very crowded, since the Boston stations are calling for a "warm-up" in the forecast for the weekend.

Come up to Sugarbush. The Mount Ellen portion used to be a separate area called Glen Ellen, with a Scottish theme for the trail names. You might find a lot to like! I find the drive to be about the same as it was to North Conway/Wildcat/Bretton.

I wouldn't say VERY cold tomorrow- Saturday is expected to be morning sun with clouds later as snow begins. Temp in the teens, light winds. That's not so cold.
Sunday snow showers and low 20's. I think you guys can handle that.

I would also choose Cannon...but what about their coverage this year?
Cannon has all the front(Zoomer)trails open except Paulies. Most of the middle of the mountain is open. The top is1/2 open with Upper Cannon,Tramway and Upper Ravine open. All of the novice Tuckerbrook area is open. The tram won't open till Feb 2.The snow was very good last Sunday finally.
