HENNIKER, New Hampshire -- Pats Peak announces its 2007 Sports Illustrated Kids Next Snow Search Event Qualifier on Sunday, January 28, 2007.
Now in its fourth year, the Sports Illustrated Kids Next Snow Search is the only all-mountain, all equipment, snow sports championship for kids. It's not just a competition - style, attitude, and personality are also factors. There is only one class, everyone competes together in the same class – both boys and girls, skiers and snowboarders.
The Pats Peak Next Snow Search Event Qualifier is open to skiers and snowboarders ages 9-13. There will be three rounds of events including a NASTAR race, Slopestyle park event & Fun event. Kids can register in advance online at patspeak.com or the day of event from 8:30 am to 10 am. Entry Fee is $15 per person plus a Valley Area Lift Ticket or Pats Peak Season Pass.
One recipient will be chosen by the judges to receive a trip to Vermont's Killington Resort to compete in the Next Snow Search Finals, March 2-4, 2007. Lodging, lift tickets and entry fees will be provided to the winner of this event and one parent/guardian. Approximately 150 athletes, representing more than 70 North American ski resorts, will be invited to compete for a spot on the "2007 Sports Illustrated Kids Next Snow Team." Competition will include jumps, bumps, racing, half-pipe and big mountain riding in an all-mountain test of skill.
The Sports Illustrated Kids Next Snow Search program was created by Jack Turner, founder of Snow Monsters. Finalists from the event qualifiers will compete at Killington Resort, March 2-4, 2007. Athletes who have competed in other event qualifiers but were not selected for the trip to Killington, VT can try again at the Pats Peak Event Qualifier.
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED KIDS, the first sports magazine written for kids ages 8 and up, connects with its readers through their passion for sports.
