Boston Mayor "Mumbles" Menino wants the store to take the shirts out of the window. He wrote a letter to the store manager and Nike as well as conducted an interview.

While somewhat edgy for a mainstream company like Nike, I think the mayor is pretty ridiculous. Don't like the shirt, don't buy it. Far too much "Think of the Children" in the world today IMO.

It's all they've talked about on Sportshub radio this morning. Many skateboarders are calling in saying it's actually a positive message. Get High on a skateboard instead of on drugs.

I guess I kind of view the shirts like the "Coed Naked" shirts.

Kids aren't going to do drugs because of some double entendre on a Nike T shirt.

This whole thing is funny, I saw a girl interviewed on the news say she didn't think it was a very good advertisement for Nike, ha! Look at all the attention on them now, I don't think Nike thought it would turn into this, but I'm sure they knew they shirts would get some kind of attention/reaction.

The other funny thing is on fox25 they brought up the point that The Hempest (a store where you can buy "waterpipes", etc) is literally right down the street! I hope this doesn't bring unwanted attention to them!

Its sad that this gets focused on while Boston obviously has much larger issues, such as a mumbly mouth Mayor! This also brings up the issue of free speech, Nike can print a shirt with really whatever the hell they like on it really.

You got it - the power of commerce. No reason to make it a law. You don't like it, don't support the products. End of story!

Dope. Isn't this what they used to call ski waxes in the old days of downhill races on the Sierras in ten foot long boards?

As for Nike, I've stopped buying their products because Nike ruined soccer.;)

Wait, this is a joke, right?

Double entendre about drug use = bad
Full blown message about sex = good?

I first thought Nick was coming out with some racy AZ t-shirts.

Menino got the little t-shirt shop to stop selling the "no snitching" shirts a couple years ago. I don't think Nike will be so easily intimidated.

Alpinezone: We love your peaks! (Don't even think about it Nick, I already had it copyrighted!)

Gotta agree with you DHS, society has just become to PC. Politicians by doing this, are just trying to make a name for themselves.
