And don't you just love when your non-skiing friends say how lovely the weather is! You want to just punch them. I tell them to move to Florida. Its always warm there!
They all pull the family card when I used to offer that. I gave them the full court press last winter: There's so much to do in the snow! Why stay inside and be bored when there is so much to do outside - ice skating, x-c skiing, snow shoeing, pond hockey, ice sailing, lake ice surfing, building snow forts, horse drawn sleighs, dog sledding, snowmobiling, telemark, snowball fights, building snowmen, tobogganing, sledding right down into the road, ski flying, ice fishing, bondfire, ice bars with beer. Wear your jeans and football jersey, who cares? They have no response.

But I want it to be sunny and warm outside while I sit on my ass watching sitcoms.

The only way I can pull a truce with them is to offer that I really don't care what it does in the city, but the snow should be in the mountains. To that they don't disagree. That way they can stay in their PJ's all day. Think I'll wash the car and go to the beach!

In other no snow blues - my home hill is closing mid week next week due to no snow

" In order o protect what snow we do have, staff on the mountain has decided to close the resort for the midweek period next week. We will be open until Sunday the 13th, closed for skiing from Monday the 14th through Friday the 18th. We will plan to report the 19th."

Man I am depressed!

Even the beast is hurting pretty bad.

Currently, the only continuous route with no walking required is Skyelark, and only advanced skiing and riding is available from the K-1 Base Area. Walking is required to get down from the Peak, North Ridge, or Snowdon areas, and the Peak Walkway is again open for downloading on the K-1 Express.

Cripes. I'm working forward on my honey-do list, since my gut (no scientific data) tells me the winter will be short but furious). Vacation days will probably be required, since the snow may be fleeting.

I hope I'm wrong

Judging by the mood in these threads, it sounds like at least beer and alcohol suppliers will be having a good season...

This is terrible.

Only hope is they are wrong about that x-mas front and temps are lower than expected.

Which seems unlikely.

Celebrated the end of the semester with a liquor store trip last night. Massive scotch sales in RI. I grabbed a bottle of Lagavulin 16 for only $74 last night, they are usually $95+. 1.75s of Johnny Red were $28.99. I've noticed whiskey prices have gone sky high. Jack 1.75s were commonly $35 around here two years ago, now it is hard to find a place that sells them under $45. I know over the summer even the NH stores are around $40 as well.

In case we weren't screwed enough, this ought to do it, walked into my local shop this afternoon, my bindings were in the process of being transplanted onto my powder skis. Hopefully they'll be of use in Colorado. Who knows, with any luck I'll have a use for them here sometime after Christmas. If not, who's got a boat?

LOL! You missed the point. I'm a snow lover whatever month it is. Just because I don't ski in December does not mean I enjoy snow any less. Still want to see it. Disappointed, indeed. I also have to work out a plan "B" for Santa.

Paying forward my honey-do points (domesticating in December) is better than just staying even with points. Which means I'll plan to pounce on the storms and stay with it for a while rather than day tripping it. Having joined a club with multiple lodges, it opens up my skiing opportunity tremendously. I still won't ski in December, but I do want a base in January.

I do however hope that December is not a harbinger of things to come. I bought a lot of vouchers!
