North Africa’s largest ski centre of Oukaïmeden in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco in North Africa is due to receuive a massive upgrade as one of six development projects in the country announced by Dubai based Emaar Investment with a combined value of $7 billion (£4 billion).

I've got a friend who's Moroccan. He told me about this place a couple of years ago. He told me that any moisture coming off the atlantic falls on the Atlas mountains and thus everything east is dry - the north african desert. I was surprised because I thought the only place in africa that had snow was mt. kilamonja (spelling problem!)

I think there are a couple of t-bars or something there currently - I remember googling the site!

Morocco is a relatively moderate islamic nation. a few years back, there was a big attack on westerners by fundamentalists and overnight the police rolled up anyone who was suspected of fundamentalist sympathies. there are alot of beach resorts on the coast that are visited by europeans where there is a very active western style night life!

within the last year there was an article in one of the ski magazines about skiing in Iran.

Rick's is a cool place, has kinda an American vibe. :flag: The only problem I have with the place is they get alot of Germans and Vichy French hangin there. I don't care for that sort.
