Summits: North & South Hancock
Trails: Hancock Notch, Cedar Brook, Hancock Loop
Distance: 9.8 mi
Elevation: 2650 ft
I didn't want to break trail again, so after seeing reports of the Hancocks being well packed I found myself at the hairpin ready to go. I wore snowshoes start to finish, although I probably could have gotten away with barebooting to the Cedar Brook junction. The trail was very well packed as was the Cedar Brook Trail. All the water crossing are either bridged or easily hopable in snowshoes. There is a short bushwhack broken out avoiding the first 2 crossings. At the Hancock Loop split I turned left and tackled the north peak first. The trail up to the summit was nearly as well packed, with some small drifts, but nothing major. I took a quick breather at the summit and headed across the ridge to the south peak. The ridge was drifted more significantly, but still nothing more than a foot deep, and generally half that. I skied my snowshoes back down to the split, than took off for the Kanc. I was in and ou of the clouds all day, but it turned out pretty nice as I got back to my car. I ran in to a local hiker and we chatted for a bit in the lot, then it was home in time for work
