LUDLOW, Vermont — On Easter Sunday, April 16, Okemo Mountain Resort will celebrate the springtime holiday, and the final day of the 2006 skiing and snowboarding season, with some traditional Easter events and family activities featuring an Easter Bonnet Contest and Egg Hunt. Some lucky bunny who finds a golden egg in the Easter Egg Hunt will be going home with a new pair of Atomic skis or an Atomic snowboard.
Okemo has made special arrangements with the Easter Bunny to have him hide hundreds of colorful, candy-filled eggs along a designated trail on Easter morning. When the trail is opened, skiing and snowboarding children will have an opportunity to hunt for the eggs. They should be especially eager to find a single golden egg hidden among the multi-colored ones. The person who finds the golden egg will win their choice of a new Atomic Snowboard or pair of skis.
An Okemo tradition nearly as old as the ski area itself, the resort’s annual Easter Bonnet Contest is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in the Sitting Bull Lounge. Contestants will display their millinery masterpieces for a chance to win fabulous prizes in one of four categories: best ski-related bonnet, best child’s bonnet, zaniest bonnet and best employee bonnet.
After all the egg hunting, parading about and great spring skiing and riding, Easter revelers who work up an appetite can head to the Jackson Gore Inn’s Coleman Brook Tavern for a delicious Easter Dinner from 3 to 8 p.m. In addition to his full menu of tempting fare, Executive Chef Michael Breen will offer a number of Easter specials including rack of lamb. For reservations, call (802) 228-1435.
