LUDLOW, Vermont -- On April Fool's Day, April 1, Okemo Mountain Resort will host a King of the Hill Race open to teams of six. This dual GS race will start at 9:30 a.m. on Okemo's Wardance trail. The race format is double elimination, so if a racer loses twice in the head-to-head competition, they are out of contention.

"We wanted to do a fun and friendly end-of-season race that would bring teams of racers from other mountains out for a day of casual competition," said Okemo Innkeepers Race Coordinator Chris Kleeman.

Registration for the King of the Mountain Race, sponsored by The Killarney, An Irish Pub, will take place in the Okemo Competition Center starting at 8 a.m. on race day. There is no entry fee and Okemo's lift tickets are free with the donation of at least three nonperishable food items on April 1. All food will be donated to a local food pantry serving the Okemo Valley area.

A King of the Hill après ski party will take place at The Killarney starting mid-afternoon.
