So, what happened to "Outer Limits -- The Steepest Bump Run in the East?"

I was considering hitting the K mid week just for fun, but the sheer fact that Outer Limits has been groomed (not to mention the Fiddle being closed) is almost enough to keep me from going. I know there's a lot of good--maybe even better--terrain available ungroomed at K-mart right now, but I was looking forward to zipperlining OL top to bottom. Guess it's not gonna happen.

Does anyone have any clue why "Outer Limits -- The Steepest Bump Run in the East" is now just another steep trail groomed flatter than a pancake?

They groomed 2-3 widths (in the CENTER) of the trail for today. Bumps skiers right. One tight line skiers left near the rope. Too many herbs @ bear these days to leave it ungroomed, I presume.

The last few years they have been partially grooming it. Two years ago skiers right was groomed, and left side left alone. Even when its bummed up entirely, too many joey's try that run.

i think i've skied ol about 2 times in the last 5 years. It just doesnt appeal to me much anymore. Used to be absolutely killer in the spring, but with the needles area being expanded in the last 10 years or so, i find that to be a better bump area. Vertigo, while pretty lame in pitch, usually has the best lines on the mountain and needles liftline is a fun natural run. although i suspect it gets alot of blowback from needles eye proper.

There is no shortage of bumps at K. Yes they have been grooming OL, was there Friday and skied the groomed smooth part early before it was beat to hell.

The bumps seem to be in the Skye Peak/Killington Peak/Canyon Quad areas. Plenty of bumps and steeps, just not quite as big of bumps as normally is the case on OL and Fiddle...

Killington has been 50% grooming Outer Limits for 20 years. The big difference is that lame-ass ASC doesn't blow OL edge-to-edge like in the old days so skier's right is now often very thin cover. The snowmaking budget at Killington has been trimmed significantly and they still haven't made snow on Fiddle, Ovation, or Conclusion. After a week of heavy use during Feburary school vacation, the whole place could stand for a resurfacing and it's pretty unlikely that they'll be doing much more this year unless there's a big thaw.
