Pearl Izumi's P.R.O. Aero WxB is the latest jacket featuring Pearl's 2.5-layer, stretch fabric. Even better, this material has been infused with Izumi's Minerale technology. Combined with fully-taped internal seams, the jacket is completely waterproof. And unlike many jackets that keep the rain off, but are so unbreathable that you get drenched in your own sweat, the Minerale technology of the WxB fabric is designed to wick moisture away from your skin to the quick-drying surface of the jacket. After all, even if it's warm out, a wet jersey will get cold on the descent and in the wind. However, unlike a jersey, or a more traditional rain cape, the 2.5-layer fabric of the jacket is lightweight, but not so much so that you feel like you are wearing a garbage bag.
The jacket was constructed using Izumi's hallmark FormFit pattern with slightly longer pre-curved sleeves and wide hems. Accordingly, bulk has been drastically reduced. It also features an elongated rear hem that covers your shorts from wheel-spray. Meanwhile, the collar tapers from the front to the rear for a better fit while you are riding. And lastly, the draft flap on the full-length zipper keeps any wind from leaking in, while a zipper garage keeps your chin from getting nicked.
For added visibility to motorists in low-light conditions, the jacket also features 360 degrees of reflective taping.
