Plattekill

P - PP - MG

Great day today. Pretty warm...Great cover...few hard spots.

This was my 3rd trip to Plattekill...We chose to go there today because it is close and we figured conditions should be good as it was closed all week. We were right - it was nice. The trail under the triple was closed up top, but open down the bottom. The double side was much better. The trail under the double was a little skied off, but the trail to the skiers left was nice light chopped up powder/small bumps. We did that a bunch of times. Skied a few bike trails through the woods, and those were good too. The snow was suprisingly light...I expected it to be wetter and heavier but it wasn't. Anyway, short review, sorry...But if you are on the edge for tomorrow, go! I think we're going back.

Sounds like an Awesome Day at Plattekill

With all the natural snow in the Catskills, it sounds like an awesome day at Plattekill.

Its decission time where to go for MLK weekend. If there is another powder dump Plattekill might be the best place to go for MLK to beat the crowds and still stay in the powder.

I see Sunday Jan 22 is Plattekill half price day ($22) with college ID.

If you never skied Plattkill you got to try it. After a good powder dump there is no better place to ski. Its only opened Friday to Sunday. The trails are the least crowded on a weekend, which preserves those untracked powder runs all the way to Sunday.
