Well, I'm bummed. Guess I'm making the switch to Quicken.

Important notice: Microsoft Money Plus will not be available for purchase after June 30, 2009. All purchased Money Plus products must be activated prior to Jan. 31, 2011.

With banks, brokerage firms and Web sites now providing a range of options for managing personal finances, the consumer need for Microsoft Money Plus has changed. After suspending annual updates of Money Plus in 2008, Microsoft is announcing today that we will no longer offer Microsoft Money Plus for purchase after June 30, 2009.

We would like to thank the many dedicated users who have been enthusiastic supporters of Microsoft Money over the years, as well as our partner financial institutions who helped pioneer a digital vision of financial management.

Microsoft remains committed to helping customers chart a course to financial well-being. The MSN Money Web site will continue to provide personal finance information and advice plus comprehensive market news and quotes. We will continue to evolve and enhance the online MSN offering in the coming months.

Does it still update (download balances)?

Apparently, even stock quote updates are going to be blocked.

I never used the online functionality. Basically it's just a glorified check register for me.

Gotcha...yeah, I have all my accounts set up to automatically download each transaction...speeds up the balancing process and keeping up with stock splits, dividends, etc...

The good folks over at Quicken have noticed...pretty much the only game in town that I'm aware of besides Mint.com

I've been a Quicken user for over 10 years now and wouldn't dream of using anything else. I LOVE IT! My wife says I'm crazy.....

Also a long time Quicken user...I don't love it but it gets the job done.

Tried MS Money a while back because it was installed on the PC I purchased and I wasn't too crazy about it.

I dl'd Quicken last night. Off the bat, I'm not impressed with the ability to import data from Money.

You would think they would develop a better tool to do so, considering all the refugee's out there.

Agreed, it does get the job done and if I thought about it there are probably lots of things that could be easier. I just hope they don't slack off now that they're the only game in town.

I bet they come out with some better tools now that MS Money is being moth balled.

I've always done my personal finances with an Excel spreadsheet. I do my income taxes with an Excel spreadsheet, too.

That's how my mom does it.

I like the automatic updates. I'm too lazy to enter in every transaction manually.
