finally got around to cabling up the old turntable, replacing the belts, installing a preamp and feeding it into my PC. Oooo-La-La... Bringing back the memories as I rip - rockin' to CSN&Y right now, Diggin out some Poco, some original Grateful Dead, ELP, Janis Joplin, Procol Harem, Charlie Daniels, Jethro Tull, Traffic, Who, Allman Bros, Chicago.
Man, this is gonna be great on the IPOD, if I don't run out of steam - there are about 300 disks to rip and catalog. Could make for some great ski tunes... [back to reality]

As a former club DJ, I <3 the vinyl. But everything has gone digital these days. They have digital "turntables" that run off CDs and mp3s but you can still manipulate something physically. I still haven't gotten around to ripping all my old vinyl to MP3. A lot of it is probably floating around online but if I was going to rip to, I would want minimal compression and max quality in case I needed it for the future sometime... so I would probably go disc by disc. Probably have 400-500 vinyl. Don't even want to think about how much I spent on those discs at $5-10 just for one song, LOL.
