Here's a very cool application of 3D printing technology. Great story, especially for those around the world who can't afford to go the traditional route of prosthetics. The psychological impact on children who have received the Robohand is incredible. They went from being ashamed of their defect, to proud of their Robohand, hey, it's cool!
3D printing is a quantum leap in how things are made and developed. Prototypes can be produced in minutes and at low cost. In this instance, the files used to produce the Robohand can be saved and tweaked to create larger versions as a child grows.
