RockShox Revelation RCT3 Fork - 29in 130mm Solo Air
It's hard to beat the big speed of 29ers across cross-country terrain, but we also like to climb and descend " and usually enjoy doing all three in any given ride. The RockShox Revelation RCT3 Fork's 130 millimeters of travel can be micro-adjusted to accommodate this preference. Its Motion Control DNA damping system incorporates a bevy of technologies to let you dial your ride on the fly to accommodate climbing, descending, and cross-country rocketing. It's a big list of features, which is fitting for such a big wheel size, so bear with us.
The Dual Position Air feature lets you adjust the Revelation RCT3's travel by up to 30 millimeters while preserving small bump properties, so you can stiffen up for climbs and fast cross country sections but switch quickly to a more plush travel for downhills and lumpy stretches or square hits. These settings can be further dialed by the three-position RCT3 switch, which lets you choose discreet amounts of lockout for big hits, trail terrain, or cross-country speed. RockShox's Rapid Recovery feature indulges the Revelation's terrain-gobbling tendencies by keeping recovery between hits short, so you'll always have that cushion, even during multiple successive bumps.
The axle is designed according to the Maxle Lite technology, which involves alchemy. While we don't understand exactly how they did it, the sorcerers at RockShox took a regular ol' axle and made it both lighter and stiffer. While the weight loss isn't that important in the grand scheme of things, the stiffness equates to better power transfer and more surety in sticking to your lines. Another great addition is Power Bulge. While we're of a divided opinion about the name, Power Bulge is code for a reinforced lower leg and oversized bushing, which further increases stiffness without increasing stanchion size.
One final, thoughtful touch to round the Revelation RCT3 out is the inclusion of an Air Guide printed on the side, so you don't have to turn to your smart phone to find the proper settings for your weight and the terrain.
