Yes, you heard me correctly. So pretty soon you might be able to eat what you want and sit on the couch all day and NOT gain any weight. The new American Dream.

And personal responsibility takes another shot to the groin.

Great line! I agree. Why teach our children how to eat responsibly and exercise when they can take a drug to keep the pounds off? What happens to cholesterol and sodium levels when you are cramming McDonalds done your feed-hole every other day? You might not gain a pound but the fuel going into your body is still crap. I can only see a vaccine like this being a crutch for the obese and not an aid for the "yo yo" dieter.

And this line, "mature male rats immunized with specific types of the active vaccine ate normally, yet gained less weight and had less body fat." What if they are not eating "normally?" Can the vaccine keep up with the rate at which some people devour junk food?

I will say that this is out of the official Chinese Government News Portal, so this may be more propaganda than truth....I just thought it was funny and odd.

Can scientists find an anti stink vaccine for me?

If you watch the Simpson's, you'd know that there are many brands of anti-stink spray on the market.

The story is showing up on other news sites. The medical community is concern that obesity is becoming our biggest health issue. First company out with FDA apoproval stand to make lots of money. Its sad that our society has come to this... take a magic pill (hormone) to make yourself slim but it mask out the real short comings of our diet and lack of physical activity.

I wonder in 10 years if the Miss Universe, USA or America contest will have a doping rule to make sure that contestants do not have a competitive edge by taking an anti fat pill.

The "take a pill" concept is nothing new here in America:

Depressed? Take a pill.
Aches and pains? Take a pill.
Hungover? Take a pill.
Can't get it up? Take a pill.
Can't pay attention? Take a pill.
Overeating? Take a pill.
Fat? Take a pill.
Can't sleep? Take a pill.
Can't wake up? take a pill.

And on it goes. If I added "take a shot" and "stick on a patch" we could add heroin addiction, smoking, and aging to the list.

We're a nation of shortcutters...nobody wants to do the work to gain benefits and rewards here. We want to go straight to the jackpot. Look at all the steroid users in sports.

Pills might solve external appearances, but they do nothing to address the underlying emotional and mental causes for many of these issues. So America is also a nation of sufferers. Needless sufferers at that.

I might take 2 Advil once a month, and that's only if my surgical metal is making me achy. I'm not a pill popper. My father is a doctor and raised me to take medication only under extreme circumstances. And that's how I'm raising my kids. Do the work, reap the reward.
