Anyone do these at the mtn?
Thinking about it with 2 young kids it may make things a lot easier in the AM to just get in the car and go

Pros/Cons (other than the price?)
Considering for next season at Ragged

This year was the first time I had a seasonal locker so my experience is limited to one mountain. The positives are easy to think of. The few negatives for me:

-I need to plan ahead in case I need to get my gear out for a trip to a different mountain the following weekend. I bounce around a lot so I felt like I was taking gear back to my car too often only to bring it back two weeks later.
-My locker was smaller than I thought. Very little room for clothing etc. and there was no place to change in the locker room I was assigned to. The bathroom was across the access road in the main lodge. I had visions of having all my stuff there and then changing from my normal clothes but it was not worth the effort. So I just arrived all dressed and ready to go. My guess is that my setup was somewhat limited and not common.

The first issue was the bigger problem and why I won't be renting a locker again. If I was really focused on one mountain then it would make more sense. Next year I will keep my old skis at my weekend place and my newer set at home.

I get a season tune at a shop near my home mountain. I usually just leave my skis there so I don't have to transport them back & forth (even over the summer sometimes). Clothing I bring home to wash after every trip since I usually ski 3-4 days in a row.

Good info. I definitely need to see the size of the lockers because the plan would be to put 3 of my skis plus wife's skis as well as Junior skis and all ski boots/poles/gear. Not sure if they are typically big enough to accommodate basically the equivalent of a 4 person family or what.

I'm leaning mostly towards not doing it but was curious to hear from others

Yes, sometimes not the jacket but definitely the pants. I have a tendency to either spill things on them or get car salt on them. This week I got grease on them from cleaning the grill in the house. It's a big grill.

I don't ski as much as you, but I only wash my gear once at the start of the season, once in the middle and once at the end. Tops. That is unless I spill something on it.

The reason I wash the stuff so infrequently is I've always been told that washing outerwear breaks down the fabric and compromises waterproofing.

Agreed...I wash my ski pants once per season typically. What I wear under my outerwear is a different story and gets washed after every use...

Same story. Base layers get washed every week. Outer layers get washed thrice or so per season.

We rented at SR for 5-6 years. Price went up and we were no longer tied to one ski lodge. All we could fit was 5 pairs of skis and poles. Honestly - you shouldn't leave clothing and soft goods in locker. It'll never dry and be dank next day. Especially ski boots - I did it once and snow from ski melted inside my boot. So you're still hauling stuff (and with kids - forgetting a glove, neck gator etc.) everyone has their own boot bag. So basically it saves bringing skis/poles back and forth and becomes the de facto meeting place for kids. They knew to just meet at locker at end of day. Or where to find a few $ lol. And we had friends in locker room so that was fun.

Had a locker at our home mountain for years. They actually call it a club and limit access to it and charge probably way more then they should but we do it anyways. Only store skis and poles in it overnight but its great to have somewhere to boot up and change after skiing for doing other things around the resort and yes its nice not to have to tow equipment all over the place and know its safe when not using it.

I love a locker. I keep two pair of skis so I can change due to conditions. I keep extra gloves hats and goggles as well as a change of clothes if I want to go out before going home. Nice to keep a lighter coat around in the spring. I take my boots and Coat home. Everything else stays in the locker.

I'm not sure how to feel about that..
I feel sorry for you more than I think it's cool... :)

I always thought (and still do) that Xanadu was/is a horrible idea. No need to feel sorry, I hate the thing and have no plans to ever step foot in it (if it ever even opens).
