Okay i took my wateas and new marker barons into the shop last night. They wouldn't mount with my current Lange boots, because the rear baseplate is significantly worn. I had intended on replacing this winter or when I got around to it, but now I am in a bind. My usual shop doesn't do langes so I had to go to the other shop who does. They were going to look into to it for me, but since the boots are 5 years old they didn't make any promises.

Does anyone have any suggestions, I really don't want to buy new boots at this time, as other than the base plates, the boots are completely fine.

Can I call Lange directly and ask about them? I am certain most shops won't have these "laying around"

any help is appreciated.

Is it hard plastic? Can they grind it down and screw on one of the plastic plates used for alignment?

yes I would say that it is hard plastic, but I don't think that would work. the back piece is worn down and rounded from walking. This is what will cause the issue with the binding test I guess.

I should've bot CAT-TRACKS years ago, and I wouldn't be in this predicament now.

I just found these at EBAY. Lange CRL 90 on EBAY

These are the exact boot sole length that I have (317)

If I can't get plates, maybe I'll buy these. then I have 2 pairs of boots which work and fit me well.

Those base plates are kind of funky. Or just buy them and keep them for spare parts ...

Alright, I just got off the phone with Lange in SLC. They have the parts, they were $6 a pair. I bought them and they are being mailed out.

I guess I should've just called them to begin with.

I don't particularly like the shop that deals with lange here in Mechanicsburg. They were less than thrilled to look into this for me last night and have been generally lackluster with their service anytime I have been in there. Fortunately for me, there is a much better shop accross town who I take my stuff to.

Seems like a highly probable fix?..see if the shop guys here agree. .A good bootfitting shop up near the mountains/anywhere do it on a regular basis. Can shave down, replace, think as said, with ~end of 3mm/5mm shim/plate and epoxy. Just a ~6hr? timeline to thoroughly dry.. Have it done, get em' & let them dry overnight.. Good shops usually have a mix that is pretty bombproof. I've used some JB Weld on portion of my front lug..extra secure hold of lug to boot...in shaving down I shaved a little too much..secured hold with JB Weld = works well. As said...just get it sitting right...

This may seem like it will work, but with liability rules now, no shop will do that for you, or mount bindings for a boot that has done that. The boots will not slide properly for release.

I don't buy that. They do it all the time when adding lift or putting angles by shaving for canting and alignment. Why couldn't they do the same for repairing a worn sole?

There is a difference between shaving for canting, and rebuilding the toe and heel soles with jb weld or epoxy.

I purchased a set for the left and right. Previously this summer I grabbed some cat tracks for the whole family because they were $5 on Amazon.com. that should prevent this from happening again. Because I live so close to ski Roundtop, I never go in the lodge and get ready at the car. So I end up walking on a lot of pavement. Should've bought the cat tracks years ago
