Anyone know of such an animal? A ski and stay website that's something like liftopia that lists all the ski and stay midweek or weekend deals in the northeast? Travelzoo has a couple but not many and going through every inn's individual website is kinda tedious. Apologize for the repost ahead of time if this is one.

A ski and stay site or an addition to liftopia would be a great idea. A lot of people will stay in a fleabag motel to save money and then spend full price for a lift ticket. Midweek most areas have a ski and stay package for double occupancy that is essentially the same cost as two full price lift tickets so you are essentially staying in a nice place for free.
Post any ski and stay deals you find on the "Skiing on the Cheap Thread".

I have been non-systematically surveying ski and stay packages and in general found that they have some pretty damn good prices on lift tickets. They seem to discount their rates too, in all but the holiday periods.

As far as Liftopia-like sites, I've never seen one. In fact, as much as I like to compile lists, lodging is a complex field of many, many variables. the task would be daunting, and the numbers are incomparable due to never being able to match apples and oranges. If you notice, not even "central reservations" at large resorts do that. They might say "from $69" or "$89 to $129.

My absolutely hands-down best deals ALWAYS come from picking up the phone. You may have to adjust your days or other preconditions, but like the airlines, you can use rate/demand schedules to your (and their) advantage. Some places hold back rooms as part of their pricing strategy. Last minute bookings can be advantageous in all but the most popular of places.

Priceline + Liftopia = Win.

I don't see them doing that. The relationships between ski area and local lodging are symbiotic, often tight and complex. Un-bundling of the two would cause market havoc, since the resort and lodging both need each other. There are quid-pro-quos that go on here, kind of like trading in your car when buying a new one. What is actually being discounted gets obfuscated.

Some of the best lodging is NOT on Priceline/Travelocity/the lodging industry centralized system (don't recall the name.) I look for someone offbeat (not "fleabag") stuff and rarely find anything of interest, since they largely post rates for chain hotels. "Boutique" Hotels, often found in cities, are also great price/value combination.

I have taken to using Googlemaps to find ALL the hotels/motels/lodges and doing my own investigations of each. Some day I'll tell you about the great place I stayed in yesterday for $50/night. It was better than all but the highest-end chain hotels, had new everything and the cordiality second to none.

I didn't mean that someone should combine them. Just as another option for keeping things cheap.

I've scored some cheap deals in Stowe and AndyZee uses Priceline for lodging around Killington.

You could easily stay in Stowe, and ski BV for around $100/day.
