Resort: Ski Butternut

Date Skied: 01/09/05

Conditions: Low 30’s, cloudy skies, granular over packed snow.

Trip Report:

Arrived at 11:45am and the place was packed! It seems that everybody had the same idea, enjoy the fresh snow! By the looks of things at Butternut it looks as if they were spared the wintry mix that I received in northern CT.

The two quads were servicing the main mountain and it was a 5 to 7 minute wait. We decided to ride in the singles line as that was the fastest.. The Highline quad had the less of a wait, that averaged about 5 minutes. They were blowing snow over on the Granny’s double area. The lift and the trails at Overbrook were not open.

It was great to see the snow in the woods and on the trails. Main Street had become wider this week. I think the best trail of the day was Lucifer’s Leap. Most skiers took the right off of the Top Flight Quad as Upper Applejack was roped off.
