Date Skied: 3/11/06 - 1pm to 4pm

Conditions: carvable wet granular snow, cloudy, about 45 degrees

Trip Report:
This winter was to be the winter of plenty of time to ski. I even purchased two season passes. Things changed and I am fortunate enough to be able to go out for 3 or 4 hours even if it is to a local mountain. I was expecting the worse for weather so I packed rain gear. It rained all the way up, but when I got Great Barrington it had stopped. I pulled into the near deserted parking lot, booted up and headed to the TF Quad. There were no lines. Today they had this and the Overbrook triple for the main mountain lifts.

The summit was foggy and by 4pm it was getting rather thick. The first run down was Lucifer’s Leap. There was plenty of coverage and the snow was wet granular and easy to carve in. It was also slick so you skied fast. It seemed to be the same type of conditions on all of the open trails.

I skied all open terrain and my favorite trail was Downspout. Unfortunately there were no bumps. In fact I do not remember seeing any this season while skiing here.

Overall the conditions were very good. There were a few bear spots popping up but still top to bottom coverage. It looks like there is a deep base on all of the open trails. I hope they can continue to operate through the rest of March.
