Date(s) Skied: Thursday January 26, 2006
Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown
Conditions: Packed Powder
Trip Report: I decided to sneak out of work for a couple of hours, I'm only about 20 minutes from Ski Sundown. Nice sunny day though pretty windy - very low crowds (virtually no one there). I skied from 12 noon till 2 p.m.
In a word, nice! It was pretty firm packed powder and very edgeable. I was with my wife for the most part, so we made many runs down Canyon Run, Nor'Easter, and Temptor, all in good shape - no loose granular or death cookies anywhere. Then I made some solo runs down Gunbarrel, it was really windy and no one was skiing down it. I made some of the best turns of my life, my Volkl 4 Stars were made for these conditions - I flew down at first making some nice GS turns, then a couple more runs at medium speed and medium turns, haven't often felt this good on skis.
I'm stoked, planning to take off tomorrow and head to Jiminy Peak
