I saw this on Belleayre's fb page- they built a skier cross course for the public. I've never seen one except for competition. Are there any other areas that have them for non-comp use? Looks like fun.

Has anyone ever competed in skier or boarder cross?

okemo has had one in the past, so has bromely. bromely's was pretty tame(flat), okemo had some pitch but i'm sure neither came close to real comp difficulty.

Wow, I'd love to see more pics of that to see how long/steep/challenging it is.

Belleayre may have actually found something that could get me to visit. I didn't see that coming.

It's on the Ashokan trail- that's the one that starts near the bottom of Roaring Brook & has 3 big bends- first to the left (which is in the pic), then right, then a big one to the left, which puts you on the run-out toward Superchief chair. It's rated blue with a steep enough pitch that you could pick up some speed. It's always been under-utilized imho, so this looks like a nice solution.

Most mtns that do have them eliminate the jumps in them when they open to the public. Fo a actual race they build the jumps back up.
Stratton currently has a nice flowing coarse, but the big jumps are missing. Brom;ey had a decent coarse last year, but havent ben up there in a while.

Sunday river has/had one, I think this year they just converted it to a medium terrain park with some banked turns.

Crotched Mountain has a setup; two to three set of rollers and two bank curves. Great place to practice absorption using the drills seen in the Canadian Freestyle vid.

It is short but really fun, my kids were obsessed with it. For racing they would need to change it a little. you end up going down the middle of the big s turn instead of riding on the cambered banks if you are actually racing someone. So there is a big S turn up top with the cambered banks, and then it drops you down on the left with a little steep part, and over 3 rollers then exit to flat terrain and onto the superchief runout. If glades and that are open, you are going to have a good day.
