Sad. Said he was respected in the community. They had even turned around due to bad weather. They weren't even able to ski. I liked the description that skiing had changed him from a quiet introvert to a passionate outdoor enthusiast and someone who came alive on skis.

Very sad. Also very high risk type skiing / mountaineering.
Watched his edit from Jasper park the week before and he nearly got caught up in an avalanche in that as well.

I saw that. Preseason is risky for a number of reasons. Best to wait until things settle.

What scares me most about these deaths is that it's the most experienced people getting caught. Makes me thankful that I can ski all day every day in my area and never worry about avalanches.
