Do you automatically/subconsciously make a distinction in your mind between friends that ski and those that don’t? (Assuming that you know non-skiers). If you do does it affect the way you treat them?

I try and limit my non skiing friends to the voices that I hear in the right side of my brain and my skiing friends to the voices in the left side of my brain ;)

Actually, I make no distinction whatsoever between my skiing and non skiing friends. Now if the conversation was do you make a distinction between your drinking and non drinking friends, well that would be an entirely different situation!

I currently only have 1 skiing friend. Most of my friends have either never tried the sport, gave it up after high school or gave it up because they have young families and can no longer afford the sport both in time and money.

a really make no distinction between them. All of my friends appreciate that I'm kind of a 'junky' when it comes to skiing and realize in winter; that's what I do and it will never change.

I have one long-time skiing friend, although he only gets out a handful of times each season. The rest of my skiing friends are AZers!

no more long time skiing friends. all either quit or moved to snowier climates. Hell, my "long time" skiing friend would have to be Greg now. I've skied with him more in the last 2 years then anyone else i know in the last 10 years.

Most of my friends don't ski much. I made a few new one's by joining the race league at WA and well all the virtual friends at AZ. I have one buddy from college who's still hard core into skiing and he lives in Denver and I have an open invite to head out anytime. Only problem is he's a surgeon and an orthodox jew, so between his time limitations and me with little kid it's hard to get away find time to ski together.

Most of my friends don't ski..that was the case even in college in Vermont and when I lived in Montana..only a small percentage of people ski or ride so it doesn't really matter to me and I treat everybody equally..

All my friends are drinkers..I don't think I know any non drinkers..now some of my drinking friends get drug tested for work so they can't smoke pot...more for me..:daffy:

I have summer friends and winter friends.

My winter friends dont understand golf.

My summer friends understand skiing but choose to stay in where it is warm.

I like both sets equally

Good question.

It's also important to define the difference between skiing friends and SKIING friends. Just because they ski doesn't mean that they ski the way I like to ski.

I have a couple of friends that don't ski, but they might as well hibernate every winter, because I don't generally see them until around April.

At the same time, I don't generally hang out with a lot of my mountain friends over the summer. We play golf once in a while, and hang out on boats . . . But we usually just talk about skiing anyway, which only makes me want to ski more. . . .

Yes and yes.

I have my "E-Pals" as my sons refer to them. Wa-Loaf, Dozer and a few others that are ski pals. I also have other friends that are skiing-related pals (folks @ Wachusett I correspond with). Plus the top boss @ work is a skier. A few of the guys I play hoops with ski.

And almost always, the conversation gets to skiing.

My non-skiing pals are no-less friends...but the conversation tips to non-skiing (family/life/other fun).

It's all good.

I don't discriminate much when it comes to ski/non-ski friends. But the non-skiers don't usually see me much in the winter.

My best friends are the ones I ski with in the winter and camp with in the summer. Conversations around the fire often turn to skiing plans for the next season. Spring skiing chats on the chair usually turn into where are we gonna camp this summer.

It's all good and it's really great that my skiing/camping pals also love to drink good beer!
