Speaking of technology, if you haven't heard of it, check out the Slingbox. It's great if you are on the road a lot or overseas. It lets you stream your digital cable signal over a broadbank internets connection to your laptop, and even control your DVR if you get the AV model. A pretty cool device, and not expensive.

I met with the guys who started the company a couple of months ago. Absolute, total, tech geeks. They were so excited to show off the Slingbox. Pretty much exactly what I'm looking for in a high tech venture capital firm. Same guys came up with the first business-class email, first spam filters, RSS.

Smart guys.

Only REAL problem is, SD only, no HD. God I wish someone would break the encryption on the HDMI cable. ;-)

The most insane thing is with a blackberry/ipone you can watch your home t.v. ANYWHERE.
It's kinda nasty cool.

a contractor i worked with in fallujah had one of these, and his own dish for internet. Was good for watching his WV college football games. Took a while to buffer though, so no channel surfing, but that was probably because of the limited bandwidth of the dish. Cool contraption if you are away from your home stations and wanna still catch the games, but otherwise I don't see why you'd get one

I think it definitely depends on your internets connection. I've got high-speed at both ends, and can channel surf pretty well. I do not, however, use the stereo connection, as that seems to slow things down a little. Yes, the image is rather small, but the upside of MLB + favorite programs definitely makes it worth it.
