Hey there, my wife and I are looking to burn our free Smuggs passes from WME. We would be coming from the Albany, NY area and I seem to remember not being able to get north from Stowe in the winter (pass closed) and not wanting to shell out $$$ for people and kids I don't have to stay at the resort, what would be our next best alternative? (hotel/motel preferred, sorry B&B'ers)

Thanks!

The closest Hotel is in MoVegas aka Morrisville, about 1/2hr from the mountain, halfway back around to Stowe. The Sunset Motor Inn. It is probably your best bet. There is also the Deer Run, it is ok next to Robbies wildlife refuge. You can't have teeth to go in there, the place is pretty red.

Try the Highlander Motel up on the Mountain Road (Rt 108 ). Stayed there a few years back and it was affordable, clean and close to the mountain.

You could stay in the Burlington area and take Route 15 out of Essex over to Jeff. Lots of choices in Burlington. Would be a 45ish minute drive depending on where you stay.

Thanks all.
Any way I slice it I have an initial 4hour haul from Glenville, NY to Smuggs! Based on cost, availability of web info and ease of booking, we opted for "Mo'Vegas" at the Sunset. Looks nice, has a restaurant/bar and is $79 bucks a night mid week for a Queen Deluxe. Sure beats the hell out of $300 and a huge inconvenience in trying to book a resort stay for two people, especially when the point is to ski for free LOL! Even if we were toting along a family, I can't stand resorts that force you to shell out $$$ for extended stay packages. Don't people just pop out and go skiing anymore? WTF smuggs?
