Monday we hit Solitude with tons of fresh powder. I lasted a couple of hours before I took a fall and injured myself. Nothing major, just felt a lot of pain in my fibula, had trouble skiing and called it a day. Next day I decided to take it easy and spend time with my wife. We ended up going snowmobiling out of Park City, it was a great time. We went on a 3 hour tour of the Wasatach mountains, started at about 5000 feet and went up to 10000 feet. I've never done this before but took to it like I've been snowmobiling all my life. It was a blast and the scenery from up there was great. Day after I felt better and did go to Alta. Here's some shots from the snowmobiling:

Me giving a pep talk to the troops :

That's the town of Hebertsville down below, the location where we started:

Looks cool. From the pics it looks like you were up in what I believe they call Guardsman's Pass, basically behind Deer Valley and Park City Mtn Resort.

Can't wait to get on the hill at The Canyons on Sunday! Just received the e-mail that my familes ski gear arrived where I'll be staying today 1 day earlier than scheduled courtesy of DHL!

Just watch, Andy will buy one for next winter and ride either his 'snow machine' or 'sled' in a one piece.

Snowmobiling is my favorite winter activity. Unfortunately here on the east coast we dont get the amount of snow or the amount of areas to go make use of one. If I lived out west with nice back country I would rarely think of skiing.

I think you mean 'here in NY'

Up here in Maine and plenty of places in Vermont, snowmobiles are a pretty common mode of transportation. Not uncommon at all to see more snowmobiles than cars parked outside of bars in some areas during winter.

Yes and no. Yes you have more areas to trail ride in Vermont, Maine and NH. But trails get boring fast. Out west You are aloud to do a lot more off trail riding.
