Stinson Mountain July 29th Rumney NH

Conditions, 90+ hot and humid

Trail. Moderate combination trail and logging roads

Moose and I and our wives were planning a hike for a week or so and decided on a short trek due o the very high heat and Humidity. The trail is fairly easy only took a little over an hour up. Hard to catch our breath in the humid air. We took it real easy and just enjoyed being outside. Reviews I had read made it sound harder to stay on the trail than it really was. Where a sign was need one was present. Snow mobile trails are inter- connected at times. The 1st part was nice and dirt base as we went up it became a bit ricky, but never a steep pitch. I believe was a 1,300 ft gain. Very minimal, but seemed even less than that.

When we reached the top there was a set of stairs to enter the old fire tower that has been taken down it was kind of funny. Only one other group of hikers at the Summit. They moved on shortly after we arrived. There was a nice us flag tied between two trees. The views were great. One side looks out onto rt 25 in Rumney and Plymouth. One of the side paths lets you have a nice view of Stinson lake that I enjoy visiting throughout the year. We stayed and had a small luch and headed back. The last 1000 feet it stated rain (So two minutes were in the rain) like crazy. We we under trees and were not effected. We hopped in my vehicle and got out quick. It did not seem to rain in the town of Rumney or Campton when we got back.

Very nice easy hike with great views and minimal effort. looks like it would be a great hike with kids. foliage season would look fatastic from the top. It was 1.45 round trip not inculding a 1/2 hour lunch at the summit.

The wife and I had a good time. Need to do it again. Finally made it to Taiwan after flying forever. We thought it was hot/humid on Saturday, you should come to Kaohsiung.
