After a chilly 2-hour drive to Stowe (89 was moving at 25-30mph, trucks stuck in travel lanes spinning their wheels, etc) thanks to sub-zero temps and a quarter inch of ice on the roads, we arrived to a still-silent quad. Apparently they blasted the cables pretty good last night and will probably do so again tonight. The Double is a pretty cold lift.
Winds had whipped the snow into dunes around the base area and it was definitely a case of feast or famine. Some areas were quite deep while others were blown clean. As usual, the deepest stuff was on the wind-sheltered trails and trees. The Bypass to Nosedive Glades route was pretty sweet today...there was more like a foot of powder back there from blow-in off the ridge. Same goes for Cliff Trail but it didn't have enough pitch. Most of the mountain is skiable but its still a little variable on the lowest third.
Didn't get the camera till late in the day but here are a few pics...
Finally some soft turns
About to go down in drifts
Floating it the next run
Enjoyin' (or taking?) a dump
The Gondi opens Saturday
