The improved forecast makes me want to burn a voucher especially that I may have some soccer games to work during some (or maybe all) March weekends. So now it's between Stowe on Saturday or Sunday River on Sunday. Though, it looks like we may be seeing high winds for Saturday so it may be prudent to go Sunday (and less crowding adds to that argument) but I have a strange feeling Saturday is setting up to be a powder day at $teaux. As it looks like it's going to be one of the few days I'll be able to get out because of this tough year, I'm trying to make it count.

I've never been to Sunday River, so I'll admit I'm not completely informed...but if you like steeps and trees, seems like Stowe is the obvious choice.

I've come to enjoy both resorts with all the terrain they offer; haven't been to $teaux in a few years though as it's just easier for me to go to SR with the countless groups that go there. But it's mostly differences in wind between the days, crowding, and conditions I'm trying to think about w/ somewhat of a preference for $teaux because of not being there for a few years. It's the same voucher and that's what it's good for this weekend.

I'm a long-time River passholder but I'm blacked out on Saturday. River is skiing pretty well right now and I'm sure the snow they will get this weekend will re-freshen the base and make all the woods ski-able. But, I also just got back from Stowe this weekend and, if they get more snow dumped on that place, it will be amazing. The woods were already deep and fluffy last weekend. It can only get better. I'll be up at Stowe on Saturday. If you see the monster, say hi!

Edit: If you do ski the River on Saturday, an added bonus is that all the silver and bronze passholders like me will be blacked out. =( Less crowding.

I'm headed to SR Saturday and Sunday mainly because I've already skied VT and NH this year and heard the snow might actually be better in ME. Granted those reports might be from further north than SR and I don't think state-to-state snow accumulation predictions have come out yet. I think you'll find fresh snow almost everywhere this weekend. How long it lasts is anybody's guess.

I am looking forward to Sat. Black out days are the best. :) Crowds are indeed down and its change over day. Many rent Sat to Sat. I will wave good bye. I would check the winds. I saw some gusts in the forecast. Sr had made snow on all its stteper and advanced terrain, but like many areas , Natural snow has been limited. Accuweather has 8 inches projected by sat. Snow-forecast.com has 5 predicted. Some still say wet mixed. I would check the weather first.

edit snow-forecast.com has around 7 inches predicted now. http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Sunday-River/6day/mid

winchill has been the most accurate this year. http://www.snowforecast.com/SundayRiverSkiResort

Resort preference aside, I would plan Sunday due to high winds forecasted for Saturday. Assuming this storm pans out, the skiing should be great either place, so you really can't lose.

Hit Saddleback if you can. They have a hell of lot more snow than SR and the glades were skiing well last weekend. Add some natural snow and it will be epic.
I love Sunday RIver, but after 20 something days this season it starts to lose its luster. If I could figure out the logistics, Saddleback would be my go to mountain. Great mountain with great terrain and a local vibe that puts a smile on everyones face.
