Just for yucks, I went to look for the highest rate I could find at SML. To my surprise, I could not find a room for two available anytime Christmas-New Year's week. Must be booked by the AIG Mismanagement.

From Today's WSJ:
AIG Faces $10 Billion in LossesAIG owes Wall Street's biggest firms more than $10 billion in speculative trades that have soured, raising questions about how the insurer will be able to raise funds to pay off the debts...."He said that exposure has been fully disclosed"...The fresh $10 billion bill is particularly challenging because the terms of the current $150 billion rescue package for AIG don't cover those debts....

Note to US Attorney General - You might want to stake out this place over the holidays while these criminals relax in style...

I'm not surprised the new hotel is booked for the Christmas-New Years week..apparently over Thanksgiving weekend 70% of the rooms were booked. I also heard that they are offering rooms during slow periods starting at $199 a night. For that price I might have to suck it up and stay there for the night....but that's still more than double what I like to spend..

The next time I go to Stowe..I want to check out the bar in the SML..

As everyone has said before, SML will be booked on the peak weeks. I remember when I was in Vail a while back over xmas time, my girlfriends roommate work at the Lodge @ Vail at the front desk. I looked over the reports she brought home one night, people had $20-$50k balances over that week. It is pocket change, now people don't have to travel via air to get to nice places like that and will drop the coin.

I wonder if all those uber rich people are the ones lined up for 1st chair ready to track out the powder...lol..I wish I had that much money but I doubt I would be much happier..as I'm content staying in $70-$100 a night hotels..
