We were in Stowe last week and saw Boston Bob (I thought folks called him Boston Rob?) skiing lift line nearly every time we went up the lift. Very distinct. Has a wide stance and just throws the skis around. You'd never watch him and say, I want to ski like that. We were chatting with a guy who works in one of the ski shops and he joked that you only needed to sharpen the back part of his skis because he never used the edges in front of the binding. He's a real tail pusher but he's clearly got that technique perfected.

Hahaha...my father-in-law has beening skiing up at Stowe for years with this guy. Knows him well, stays at his place usually once a year. My father-in-law is a bell-to-bell kind of skier, but nothing like Yoffe!! He's a maniac!

I'm envious of a guy who can ski like that day in and day out.

Hopefully in retirement I can work my way up to his standards!

In my experience, the article got it right, everyone calls him Bob, and he prefers Robert.

I was there with a local years ago, and evidently the thing to do when you see him skiing under you when you're on a lift is to yell "Hey, Boston Bob", and he yells back "It's Robert!", while raising a pole and usually without looking up. One of the locals said he's been skiing there forever.

Things couldn't be more New England-ish than this.
