Date(s) Skied: Feb 23rd, 2009

Resort or Ski Area: Stratton

Conditions: Powder

Trip Report: What an awesome day! Stratton groomed most trails the night before but it snowed all night/all day yesterday..plus the day before. They claim 24" in 48 hours. I did laps in the glades and found knee deep fresh tracks all day long!! A couple spots were wind blown up to waist deep and even a spot or two where I could stick my pole in grip deep!! Gondola was on wind hold but still zero lift lines, and very few people on the slopes. Wind was definitely chilly on top but I'd break a sweat in the woods coming back down. By far the best conditions I skied all this season.
I ended up with 23 runs and 31K in vert.

sorry no pics

Windy at Mt. Snow as well!

Glad you were able to get ou in the fresh stuff. I had to force myself to stop and take pics yesterday; it was just too good to stop skiing!

right back atcha....conditions were so stellar after 2 runs I had to implement the "no friends on powder day" rule, I did find them 6 hours later at the bar and they also had a blast so it was all good

I was worried about wind holds yesterday as well, but they kept all the chairs spinning.

I do get the daily Stratton e-mails and they mentioned with the wind, they may have to shut down the gondola. It's one of those double edge sword deals: It's awesome at blocking the wind; but all the surface area subjects it to the wind.
