Resort or Ski Area: Stratton, VT
Conditions: Great! Packed powder in the AM. Powdery crud mid-morning. Corn in the afternoon.
Trip Report: I had a great day at Stratton. Much better then K the day before. I woke up a little late because of too many safety meetings and rum at cokes at Mulligan's, but made it on the hill around 8:45. I cashed in my 10K pass, and the nice lady gave me a smiley face sticker on my pass. Only two lifts running, AE and Ursa. The Gondi was spinning at one point, but they were just using it to move cars around. It felt like home, sitting on a 6-pack again
I've got to say, Stratton is a really nice place to ski, and for me, they are doing a lot of things right.
Took AE to Ursa. First run was down Black Bear. WOW, I was so surprised on the conditions. Hats off to the Stratton groomers!!! Great packed powder conditions. Next run was down North American, which for me was the run of the day. I think I lapped it about 5 times in a row. Mike's Way was a great run to rip down, but I only hit it 3 times. In total, I did 23 runs for 26,500 vert, but most of them were top to mid-station, or mid-station to bottom. Maybe only 5-6 runs were from top-bottom. For my last day of the season, I went out feeling and skiing great. Total skier's high. I've got to say, Stratton is a really nice place to ski, and for me, they are doing a lot of things right. I'll definitely be considering spending more time there, and less time at K next season. Much more my style.
I hit my season goal of 500K in vert and a new record of 32 days on the snow.
Oh yeah...I almost forgot, I sprung for the Jet Fuels. Wow, what a great ski. Totally forgiving and rewarding at the same time. Really inspires confidence as well. I really like the 84 underfoot for stability. Ok, time to enjoy some pics
