My wife and I take a trip to Stratton each year. We love it here but it is almost always very windy. Is this typical of Vermont skiing or is Stratton more windy than most?? Any recommendations??

A minute from the Alta exit off the I-15!
Well, wind is common almost anywhere you go. Don't like wind? Go to Bretton Woods in NH. They've had something like 5 wind hold days in the last 10 years (its something like that, don't quote me on it though).

I've never found Stratton particularly windy. Nothing like Jay, Sugarloaf, Killington. I even find Mount Snow to be more windy than Stratton.

On those windy days give Magic a try - almost unheard of to have wind holds due to lower summit elevation, lifts running lower than trees, and slower, low profile lifts. Its NOT Stratton, which if you enjoy old style VT trails is a very good thing!

When we stayed in the area, a lot of Stratton's lifts were on hold due to a very strong NW wind, so we skied Bromley which faces south. It was only very windy at the top, no lift holds, and we had lots of fun in the glades.
