Big Game said:You're thinking about Vertigo, the deciduous glade towards the bottom? Yeah, it would be a stretch to call that a double diamond. Kidderbrook Ravine is higher up the hill. It is far from open, real piney, and gets real steep, especially as the ravine closes in. If that isn't double diamond, well, then, I guess I must not know anything.
That sounds about right. Never did make it into Kidderb Brook Ravine if it's as tight and steep as you say it is.
But dude, don't be talking trash about the terrain. Sure, Stratton is corporate extreme, but the woods are alright. They don't like being associated with the mission statement of Intrawest either. Keep your critism at the right target. Like the varying degrees of obnoxia one has to endure on the gondola in order to get to the rippin trees.
In my mind,t here are a lot of things to dislike about Stratton, said obnoxia being cheif among them. OTOH, I don't think I'm breaking new ground when I say that the terrain can be lacking. When combined with a lift system that puts FAR too many people on the trails, it's really not my cup of tea. Now, the woods may be a different ball of wax, but there's only so many trees left on that hill and a lot of peoiple roaming around there. I'm sure you can find the good on any given day there, but it sure seems that you have to look a lot harder than most places to the north.
