Can't you just use Google Earth to find the coords for peaks yourself? I'm not sure what it is you're trying to do?

I have a list of coordinates from when Greg and I made the Ski area locater map, but they're generally at the base area instead of the peak.

nope they are so inacurate tried like 6 times. i forget where i found it before. i did using warren and the map size at 30km but the topo res sucks and is no real help in route finding. you can see the difference between stowe and the bush. sorry no gps waypoints guys i have to reload all of them and even then i will have to do some laps with ya befor i give them up.

There is a site www.topozone.com which would do the trick for ya but after being free for years you now have to pay to look at topos. It has every topo in the U.S.

i can get the topos from the usgs for free. but i need the exact lat and long. i could even work with the lats and longs for the base lodges of each area. but google has not been my friend

When I've dumped GPS tracks into Google Earth they've been very accurate against the imagery. Perhaps you have a datum mismatch between the data you're using and Google Earth?

I think I might have found your solution. It's the Detailed Point Forecast map on NOAA. this link will take you to the map where the locator is on Mt Ellen. Lat/Lon is below the map. Just move in closer in by hitting the + on the map or using your mouse wheel and move the locator to LP and Stark Mt. and you'll have the data for those peaks.

it weird the cords displayed in g earth are really off when i import the maps into g earth they line up fine. its just such a great way to plan routes for touring as far as pitch.

I usually use the "New Placemark" tool in GE to get a static coordinate.
