Resort or Ski Area: Sugarloaf

Conditions: PP

Trip Report: Following up our best day ever at Saddleback, we had a very good day at Sugarloaf. Great PP conditions all over the hill.

We clicked in about 8:30 and got an early chair up Spillway to Tote Road top to bottom. ROTD. Silky smooth snow. We did some early laps on the Superquad. Binder was a good as I have seen it. Scoot was excellent - best conditions we have caught it on in a while. Scoot brings back memories as it is the first "Blue" Trial I ever did many years ago while dating my wife in high school. A couple of tentative turns and I was in the woods (not intentionally).

My legs were still feeling it from Saddleback, so nothing extra-special today. We lapped Whiffletree a bunch of times with boy #2 figuring out how to go sideways on a box. Buckboard and Springboard was great on this side of the hill. Did a boomauger to wedge run. Scraped off by the time we got to them... but still pretty good. Fun trails. We finished lapping the superquad. Hit the glade between Hayburner and Skidder. Great snow and a very good glade. Would love to hit this one on a POW day.

Great weekend. Pics.

Double Bitter - A bit scratchy but still very good

Ah - the Loaf. Where I learned to ski. Love it. Thanks for the pics too.

Haven't been up there this year. Want to hold out for the spring skiing.

How is the redone area outside the lodge area - I heard they bulldozered that awful slope you had to toe up just outside the back door of the lodge - not a big deal until you have 3 kids hanging on you. Did they add a firepit there too?

Hi - Yup a firepit is there now. The slope seems a bit more moderate now that you mention it... but it is still uphill. :)
