App tracks and shares vertical, mileage, speed, and more
CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine (November 28, 2011) - Sugarloaf unveiled a new mobile app this week that allows skiers and riders to track their experiences on the mountain, compile their stats online, and share them with friends, all with the push of a single button. The new app, called "Sugarloaf Replay ," is completely free, available to anyone, and operates on both iPhone and Android devices.
Developed with the team at AlpineReplay.com , the Sugarloaf Replay app utilizes the GPS technology in smartphones to calculate a user's accumulated vertical feet, total mileage, number of runs, average speed, and even calories burned throughout the course of the day and the season.
Skiers and riders are able to track their day on the mountain using the app, and then review the information at the end of the day. Users' stats are stored in their profile on AlpineReplay.com, and they are able to compare them to stats of friends who also use the Sugarloaf Replay app.
"Skiers have been comparing their days and boasting about stats since the dawn of skiing," said Brad Larsen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Sugarloaf. "Sugarloaf Replay is the next step for Sugarloafers in continuing that tradition in an online, social media environment."
Alpine Replay profiles also easily sync with Facebook, meaning users can automatically share their experiences on the hill with friends and family on Facebook.
Sugarloaf Replay users can compare their accumulated stats to those of other Sugarloaf skiers and riders, as well as to stats of skiers and riders from around the world. The app also features a "challenge" function, which allows users to challenge their friends to achieve various statistical milestones.
Sugarloaf Replay users will also be able to accumulate medals for achieving various milestones throughout the season. There are a total of 10 Sugarloaf specific medals, and 14 Alpine Replay medals.
In addition, the app will also provide users with the latest information from up on the mountain, including up to date lift status, grooming reports, the Daily Report, and instant updates through Sugarloaf's Twitter Feed, all from within the app.
