Date(s) Skied: 01/31/10
Resort or Ski Area: Sunday River
Conditions: Fresh Synthetic, Groomed Synthetic, Frozen Granular, Bulletproof Base
Trip Report: Sunday dawned warmer & calmer than expected and decided to check out how SR was doing. Made it to Barker by the crack'o'noon. Guns were running on Tempest, Lower Sunday Punch & Escapade. Tried LSP & got coated in ice from the guns. Commuted over to White Heat, found several inches of sugary manmade on the sides. Skied skiers right for 6-8 laps, with a side trip down Shockwave (frozen granular & scraped clean in the middle). Warmed my toes at 2:30 & finished the day playing in the fresh synthetic on LSR & Escapade.
Overall, SR has made a great recovery from the rains. They have made LOTS of snow, and groomed all the popular runs into pretty good shape. Weekend early risers will find good conditions, sleepyheads will have to ride the edges until the next real snowfall.
