NEWRY, Maine -- Sunday River has launched a fine-dining mountaintop restaurant called Dining @ The Peak in North Peak Lodge. Dining @ The Peak features the area's best prix-fixe menu showcasing classic Maine fare. At $95 per couple or $50 per person, Dining @ The Peak is open on Saturdays and select holidays with reservations from 7-8:30 p.m. and includes a ride to the top of North Peak aboard the resort's new Chondola with a glass of complimentary champagne upon arrival. The restaurant will also host occasional wine dinners throughout the year, such as a special wine dinner with famed winemaker Michael Honig scheduled for Saturday, January 24. Reservations for all diners are required.

Dining @ The Peak offers guests a classic four-course menu. From Maine lobster to state-produced maple syrup and cheddar cheese, local ingredients are present throughout each serving. The Dining @ The Peak menu changes each week but features such classic entrees as roasted tenderloin of beef with wild mushroom glace and roasted half duck with Grand Marnier sauce. A selection of desserts, like the individual chocolate dream, round out each meal.
For the special Honig Wine Dinner on January 24, guests will be treated to a menu that includes such appetizers as sea scallops wrapped in honey-smoked bacon with Maine maple drizzle and prosciutto-wrapped melon with balsamic drizzle. The entrée of the evening is tenderloin of beef and duxelle baked en croute with port wine glace de viande. The Honig Wine Diner five-course menu pairs flavors that best compliment Michael Honig's Napa Valley varietals and is $79 per person or $150 per couple.

The pre- and post-dinner ride aboard the Chondola provides diners a sparkling view of the resort's illuminated 12-hour trails below. New this season, 12-hour skiing and riding is available on Friday, Saturday and holiday nights until 9:00p.m., offering guests a chance to take some turns and work up an appetite. The Chondola and 12-hour skiing are part of $14 million in capital improvements invested in Sunday River this season.

For reservations, call (207) 824-5076. For more information and a complete menu of the week, visit www.sundayriver.com.
