Newbie forum poster here. Probably most of you on the forum are advanced skiiers and ski around people like me... but looking to bring my family up to Sunday River Saturday but the conditions look a bit sketchy

We are "advanced novice - beginning intermediate" skiers... sticking to Green and easy Blue runs... will probably stick in the North Peak area. What do people think Sunday River will be like this weekend? Do you think the conditions will be appropriate for our type of skiing... or should we wait until they get a good storm? Or maybe good snowmaking temps the rest of the week will help? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Not at all. We have many members of all ability levels. We do tend to share almost a maniacal passion for skiing though...

Welcome to the boards!

THaller1 responed in the trip report thread....... Take a look sounds good.

skied yesterday and can say the conditions have improved tremendously ... we had a wonderful day! Dreammaker and Escapade are in very good shape (North Peak).. Northern Lights was dreamy on Aurora and some of the green/ blue on Barker is getting a new coating right now. American Express and Risky are also newly coated in snow.

I say, 'go for it'..it's only getting better from here with fantastic snow making weather.. I can't wait for Saturday myself!! It's FINALLY winter!!! WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The areas with large snowmaking capacity will be decent this weekend. Sunday River is definitely in that category and they also picked up 7'' of snow this week according to their website. Also, I think the recent weather will keep the crowds down this weekend. ASC apparently agrees because they just sent out an email offering a $20 day pass to all silver and bronze passholders who are blacked out.

Skied at SR today and I would say its a safe bet for the weekend. Jordan will definitely be open and they are resurfacing the rest of the terrain aggressively to stand up to the holiday crunch over the weekend.

Conditions were pretty darn nice today and should be even better by the weekend.

I called Killington and the $20 lift ticket deal applies to ALL of their resorts for this weekend. So if you have a bronze or silver pass you can buy a ticket for $20 each day that the passes are blacked out.

They really must be hurting with the recent weather to offer this deal.

SR was asketchy last week. i'll admit it although the snow on Saturday was awesone (buttery smoth corn snow) as long as you missed all the obstacle. That being said with the 7" they recieved this week and the cold temps. They have be resurfacing all the open trails with fresh snowmaking all week . i predict this weekend will be the best conditions of the year. If I can convince my family, I'll be there. Heck even if i can't convince them, I may be there. The question is which is worse .. . to deal with a pissy family or deal with a pissy Ga2ski?

The best intermediate terrain is at North Peak. Even though I ski the whole mountain, I usually make my way over to Escapade and Dreammaker ever day out.

Have fun and maybe I'll see you on the hill.

I'll be at Sunday River on Saturday. Was planning on Sugarbush this weekend then I got that All For One notice on $20 tickets on black out days. I'll be parking at South Ridge (I think) and I hope to meet other AZers there.

Was actually at the River last Saturday -- in between rain storms. Got there just after the morning drizzles and left just after it really poured late in the afternoon. It was a strange day -- temperature inversion on the mountain, big patches of rocks in the middle of the trails. Nice to know though that the big dumps the past few days have altered the landscape for the better. Can't wait to get there and ski!
