Sunday River to open Oct 31st and November 1st

They will have $25 dollar tickets for both days. $10 on sat if you wear a costume..

T2 will be open with mid station Loading and they expect to push some snow around so you can ski down mid punch till about Rocking chair. Takes away the down loading issue.

Pumpkinhead Festival
Friday, 10/30/09 - Saturday, 10/31/09
The Phoenix House & Well and Shipyard Brewing Company have partnered to bring Pumpkinhead Festival to Sunday River. Activities include the Hike The River fundraiser for the Maine Cancer Foundsation, a performance by comedian Bob Marley on Friday and the Rustic Overtoon Saturday. Plus, Sunday River is offering a special $79 lodging rate at the Grand Summit Hotel with a free early season lift ticket included with each reservation


I will be at Rustic Over Tones tomorrow and the full Moon dinner..

3 weekends of turns in Oct.:-D

Possibly will be there for birthday turns on Saturday. Bummer the snow did not hold out top to bottom but I am actually surprised they still even have enough to offer anything more than T2. I will be more than happy to do a little down hiking instead of down loading.

I think you will get further down than they are saying. There were two areas when you had to click out last weekend, but not real issue 5 steps was all.

You could ski till just before where the Barker chair comes across rocking chair in front of the pond. My "guess" is you will get at least as far as the bottom of tourist trap.

Maybe they mean the bottom of rocking chair, but I think they ment the top of it.

Glad I got out when I did two weeks ago. It was a nice treat. Going to wait out a few weeks until more gets open up before I head back up.

Though it is supposed to be super warm tomorrow, so there will probably be nice spring bumps for those who go check it out.

I'll be heading up for some turns on Saturday and then doing the Halloween mountain bike ride at Bradbury at 6:00 pm.

We are heading up there tomorrow. Heading to Rustic and then ski Sunday if all goes well!

T2 was great today - Nice spring corn, but Sunday Punch stopped at the end of Agony/beginning of Rocking chair. Most people just downloaded, but the line to do so was quite long. It's amazing that they haven't made snow since that first week and it's lasted as long as it has with all the ncp and warm weather. If they don't get a good window this week, next weekend may not happen. They need at least one good night to pound it out.

Sorry I missed you, jerryg. I skied from about 1030 to close. Did 2 runs top to "bottom" with rivercoil then yoyo-ed from mid-station the rest of the afternoon. If it weren't for the fall colors, I'd say it was spring -- spring conditions. I overheard some guy at the season pass office saying that there's a weather window this week and they plan to pound out the snowmaking. Fingers crossed.

Bob, Tanya, Walter, and I saw you ski down past the midstation while we were about to load, but there was no way to get your attention. I skied 9-1 or so. I was up there yesterday and did a 6 mile hike, so my legs were pretty shot.

I looked at a couple weather patterns and there are a couple of cold nights. Fingers crossed, indeed.

Just got back from skiing today. Mid station up only, large brown spot below the mid station so I did not attempt Sunday Punch, although some did. Lift did not start turning till 9 AM, they had to use garbage cans to move snow to the unloading ramp. Cover was getting thin in a few spots, lots of sparks were flying, glad I had the rock skis! Did 15 runs. Weather and snow were fantastic, moderate crowd which seemed to grow as people recovered from their "Halloween Hangovers".
Talked with an employee who said if the weather cooperates they would start to blow snow on Thursday and hoped to be open 7 days a week starting Saturday.
Will post some pics later.
Sunday River has done a great job stretching this early season, they got 8 1/2 days of skiing and riding out of the mid October cold snap, glad to see a mnt take a chance to open very early in this economy.

I made a quick visit on the hill today. The word I heard was guns will indeed be fired back up and more cold weather coming in around the weekend. I made 6 of those 8.5 days. The peak dinner and the Rustic Overtones made it a full Sat after a few runs. The Rustic Overtones and the north Peak Dinner sold out. Shows early season can work on more than one level. I think we will be okay for next weekend and beyond.

Started skiing at Sunday River at noontime, heard there was a bit more snow the day before but what was there was a lot of fun! T2 was SC with some soft bumps on skiers left. Loaded at mid-station many many times. From the ride up I knew ther wouldn't be consecutive T2B runs. Last run skied Sunday Punch until the snow ran out just before the SR Express. Good first day! Be there next Sunday!
