No love for crunchy tacos...

Taco Tuesday at the local bar is three tacos for $2.75..and they have import bottles for $2.50 that night. You can get hard or soft shell....along with beef, chicken or bean. They once had shrimp Tacos as a special but I never tried them. They had baby shrimp and avacodo for sure and maybe another ingrediant as well. A really nice restaurant in the next town over has a Lobster Taco as an appetizer and it's really good.

Anybody here visit Taco Bell? I wish there were more Taco chains around here. In Montana, they also have Taco Johns and Taco Time...and in LA there are dozens of excellent Taco Stands..mainly the traditional Carne Asada..

I like to wrap a soft shell around a hard shell...stuck together with a layer of re fried beans.

Yes, I am a gringo.

For fish tacos, what's more important than the type of fish is the freshness. Around here cod or haddock works great, but you should use whatever white flaky fresh fish is available in your area.

You have Baja Fresh in your area? There's a couple in the Boston area, but the closest is about 45 minutes from me. I wish there was a closer one, because I thought the food was really good for a chain.

IMHO, the only "chain" taco that comes close to authentic is Wahoo's Fish Tacos in California and Colorado.

Loved the deep fried burritos at Taco Time. Comparing mex food here in the east to out west is like comparing a NY pizza pie with a pie in Vermont except Amercian Flatbread pies are pretty good. In the last few years there is some decent mex food in the northeast.Made some sopapilias(sic) last week.

We have a fairly new Taco/Burrito joint called Cali-Burrito. The two guys who co-own the place spent a decade in California as surf bums and they wanted to open up an authentic California burrito/taco place here in eastern PA. The ingrediants are uber fresh and they have lots of different varieties of Tacos and Burritos. All of their Taco platters come with Two double decker Tacos..a Soft shell on the outside, then a hardshell on the inside with thin layer of refried beans between the two shells. Everything comes with homemade Tortilla chips. Their guacamole is great and only $1.25 for a small side. They also have heady ass'd quesidillas and 5-6 varities of salsa at the salsa bar. Always hot, mild and verde(green)..then a few others like mango and black bean.

Since starting this thread I have not had a single taco..
