Ya the boom was a few years ago but does anyone else find themselves watching this on espn every tuesday, or watching it on espn classic in the middle of the night. Im not sure about up north but there are about 4 individual poker companies here that do free hold em at bars, clubs etc every nite of the week, you can win a 10K seat in vegas, vacations, tv's and its all free all they ask is tip the dealers a few bucks.. This has got to the point where i have an account on fulltiltpoker, its kinda like golf u have your good and bad days but just cant get enough of it, at least for me.

I used to play in an amateur for free tournement at the local bar. There were usually 30-40 participants who played for a $100 cash 1st prize, 2nd place was a $25 gift card and 3rd place is a $15 gift card. I was 2nd place 3 times out of about 20 total times and third a few times. Once I was busted out on the first hand when I went all in with pocket Aces and got called by pocket Kings and of course a King hit the river. A buddy of mine from high school who used to gamble with me at lunch and on field trips is a pro poker player in Vegas..his name his Theo Tran..look him up on www.cardplayer.com

A few years back I used to play alot of online poker..I once won a $1,000 pot..and I cleaned up in a $11 rebuy on Pokerstars..but I had a few bad beats in cash games and decided to quit..then I got my new laptop and re-installed Pokerstars and I've been sticking with the little tournements and Satallites mainly for practice but also a chance for some steezy $$$$$$. Online is great because you see 3 times as many hands per hour...Live poker is also good if there's a designated dealer it's great but if each person takes turns being the dealer..it sucks and there are mis-deals galare by the amateurs who can't count.

I agree that poker is alot like golf. It's all about maintaining your composure. In golf and poker you are going to have bad shots/bad hands where you lose chips/gain strokes...the best thing to do is mentally regroup and not go On Tilt and have more bad shots/bad hands...Going on Tilt in poker would be going all in with a mediocre hand to try and double up or win the blinds..trying to chase back the lost chips..In golf it would be hitting a miraculous shot to the green through the woods when you could just punch out..One day when I have more money...I'd like to go to Vegas during the World Series of Poker and play all the no-limit events including the $10,000 buy-in Main Event..

I had trip aces yesterday and got beat, pocket aces get beat alot they give u false confidence because they are the best hand before the flop but rarely hold up soo u gotta shove and hope nobody calls. When i get a bad beat i take the next hand off, its hard to do but otherwise id be raising and doing stupid crap

Pocket Aces pre-flop get cracked about 20% of the time..and slow playing pocket aces never works with me..the odds of flopping pocket aces are one in 221..I think I like suited connectors the best..
