Personally, I don't bother with a "courtesy flush" unless I have some unfortunate rumbly tummy that makes me a leaky faucet at the rump- and even then, its to make more room in the bowl.

How about you guys and gals? Whats your take? Does it depend on where you're taking said bowel movement? Who you're around? The time of year? If you can't stand the stench yourself?

I courtesy flush at home all the time but that's primarily because our toilets are very prone to clogging. So it's more to prevent that than anything else.

.... seriously we need snow

If I know the person and were friends then maybe. Strangers, sorry you won't get any sympathy from me.
Not sure it really works anyway. Could be an excellent idea for Mythbusters or a Master's thesis.

lmao

I'm so writing in to Mythbusters when I get home this evening. Thats a brilliant idea.
Lovin' the "private time" comment.

I would love to see the results and find out the details involved with timing and other factors. I've experimented with flushing cycles with mixed results.

At work...but when it's called for. You know the deal. Most of the time, it's not needed. But there are days when even my nose gets offended.

At home...no need.

I just installed a new $hitter in our main bathroom at home. Heaven! Elongated bowl, powerflush, chair height. As if dumping wasn't enjoyable before... The old was on the "OEM" unit in our circa 1968 raised ranch; four bolts...all rusted, held it to the floor. First time I had to use a sawz-all for a toilet install.

There's a reason why there's some pretty high CFM bathroom fans in my regular bathrooms ;)

Never at work, but that is because there are the auto flush toilets, and they have some serious power! The "work" that clogs that toilet would be very impressive.

At home I do, mostly to make sure I dont need to do plunger work....
