The small mountains...

Was just looking at snowfall totals of all NY mountains which I rarely do as a lot of them are just too far..but some of them are getting a hell of a lot more snow than anything near me. McCauly, Oak and a little place called Peek n Peak which has gotten 13"...All are under 1000 vert, Peek at 500 so they are just too small to ride all that way..too bad there is nothing with any seriouse vert out there...now if they ever get several feet it would be a hoot to do some quick powder skiing...something to think about.

That's nothing new. Western NY gets all the mega-dumps due to lake effect. But there's no big moutain out there. Better like x-c skiing!

I know, I used to live in Michigan (learn to ski first time there). Same deal, tons of snow on a pancake flat land. Switched to xc ski and a lot happier!

How about we move lots of dirt from Nyc buildings to western ny hill to get more vertical

That's what makes earning the turns so fun. Pick your mountain, park the car, go to it....

Might have to visit a few of these some day..its funny that NY has the most ski resorts in the country..so many have closed though..
