Went to pc today..there's more to do there than canyons..
Hit some pretty steep mogul runs..double jack was a bit insane..parlays easier..motherlode meadow was fun.
But rocks everywhere..and it snowed a bit..

And will quite a bit over the next week or so

This one needs to hit and not be a swing-and-a-miss to save ski season.

We're looking for maybe about 18" at Park City over the next week, but the crazy thing is there are bare dirt trails that even 18" wont get open. It will definitely make mogul skiing a thing again, and upper elevation trees will be great, and at this point, that's all I'm hoping for & will happily take it and run.

I picked a good year to move west and have Mammoth and June as my home mountains. Pretty much the only place to be having a normal-ish ski season. Snowpack is ~normal~ right now and will be above average after the 5+ feet on the way.

It's weird, because typically Sierra storms find their way to Utah 24-48 hours later.

At Mammoth this week. Hadn't snowed in nearly 30 days and was worried about leaving VT. But they got 2 feet this week. Was supposed to go home tomorrow but extended till thurs as they are expecting several feet next sun-wed.

Good luck with the upper mountain Monday-Wednesday. I'd consider skiing June - just make sure you have chains on your car for the ride up 395.

Today was pretty damn nice. The new snow skied very nicely. Found plenty of chowder and fun at Alta and Snowbird.

210 Photography always seems to be out whenever I am..... ;)

(And for the record I bought one of their digital pics of me earlier this season as it was a great shot and made for a nice gag gift for some buddies).

The new Mavericks are breaking in nicely and were on fire today on and off the groomers. So much fun!

Yes, today Friday the 13th was very nice at The Bird; mostly sunny on the upper mtn, manageable crowds, excellent snow. The 12th and 13th have probably been my most enjoyable ski days of the winter. I missed the big dump in early Jan when I had to return east for a funeral.
Saw a guy get himself into quite a fix in Death Chute today up off The Cirque. Dropped in about 25 feet then came to unavoidable rocks/cliff. I watched him with concern for 5-10 minutes. He stepped past the worst by the time I left.
As TB can attest, a headlong tumble down this chute might not mean death,, but possibly injury.

Considerably more dangerous in low tide than this pic implies.

Guy was stuck in area just below were individual is standing in this pic.

Crowd gathered to watch how he was doing. There was a ski patrol rope nearby and I thought about tossing it to the guy, but he seemed to be doing ok without help, but moving very cautiously.

Dealt with lower and slow openings this past week. But still found some good stuff down low.
No car so can't do June.
