Things to do in Crested Butte in July

What activities are available in Crested Butte in July that aren't too outdoorsy? Specifically, for 3 women with 3 children in tow (4 yrs, 2 yrs, and 16 months at the moment) while their manly-men husbands head out into the woods for 2-3 days?

"Absolutely nothing" and "Talk to divorce lawyers" are perfectly acceptable reasons to leave them at home.

Maybe some decent cultural activities going on at the University nearby. Some friends of mine from High School had a splendid time at Wasted er I mean Western State College

So, not looking like a whole lot to do there. The Gunnison River Festival is June 26-28, which may be too early for the time frame we're looking at.

A nanny and a day spa may be cheaper...

Gunnison is not a big town, all the activities in the area ARE outdoorsy. Maybe you can hire a clown or magician to entertain them. :wink:

The clowns are teh ones going hiking.
Anyone been hiking out that way? In particular, up Oh Be Joyful Creek to Democrat Basin?

Go for the nanny(ies). Lots of great terrain for walking/jogging/running = pretty basic activities with healthy edge.
Staying inside when out there...is like vacationing in NYC and wanting to find some MTB terrain.
